WW2 German Luftwaffe Soldbuch Oberstleutnant Max Lehmann

WW2 German Luftwaffe Soldbuch for Max Lehmann.  He was a Flieger Hauptingenieur (Captain) when the Soldbuch was started.  He was promoted to Flieger Stabsingenieur (Major), 1 September 1941, and to Flieger Obertsabingenieur (Lieutenant Colonel),  9 November 1944.  In his photo, he has a two place ribbon bar with what looks like War Service Cross 2nd Class with Swords and Long Service Medal ribbons.

Lehmann was born 8 August 1897, Reinickendorf-Berlin. He was career active military.  The Soldbuch was started 27 November 1939, Reichsminister der Luftfahrt und Oberbefehlshaber der Luftwaffe (RLM),


Page 3 confirms his promotions by the RLM and the Oberbefehlshaber der Luftwaffe.

1 October 1939, he served at the Reichs Luftwaffe Ministerium, Generalluftzeugmeister, Berlin. (Chief of Aircraft Procurement and Supply)




He was married and his wife lived in Berlin.


There is a slip of paper listing his at Lager Putlos, which was run by the British in Schleswig-Holstein.

Lehmann has his shoes resoled, was issued a wristwatch and was issued boots.

As a POW on 26 January 1946, he was treated for a circulation problem.

He was at pay grade 7, at one point, as entered by the RLM.

Page 20 mostly has pay recorded while he was a POW at Lager Putlos.



Page 21 has two entries of permission to carry his own Walther 7,65 pistol, November 1944.  At the bottom of the page are further pay notations from when he was a POW, dated December 1945 and January 1946.

Lehmann was awarded the War Service Cross 2nd Class with Swords, 1 September 1942.



Of his 4 leaves, only one was spent in Berlin. On the others, he went to Brandenburg, the Sudeten and Salzburg.
