Rüffing was born 27 January 1904, Spiesen Saar.  The Soldbuch was started 24 May 1941 by 1 Company Kraftfahrer Ersatz Abteilung 5.

He was married and his wife lived in Spiesen in the Saar.

He was issued sun glasses, canteen, field kit.  He was issued a 98k and bayonet.

20 December 1941, he was diagnosed with stomach and intestine problems at motorized field hospital 592. After 5 days, he was transferred to field hospital 158, where he stayed until 8 Janary 1942.

He was wounded by mortar shrapnel to the back, 22 October 1944.

19 December 1944, he was in a reserve hospital in Königsberg, East Prussia, with bone problems.

Page 18 shows he entered military service 24 May 1941.

He was awarded the Führerpaket and then the award was removed.

Rüffing was awarded the Russian Front Medal, 4 August 942, the Black Wound Badge 30 October 1944, and the War Service Cross 2nd Class with Swords, 1 September 1944.


He received 5 leaves, all to go home to Spiesen.

This older soldier’s Soldbuch is well filled out and complete with all pages.  Seems he never completely recovered from his shrapnel wounds from October 1944.
