WW1 Death Cards 4

 

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Soldat Karl Gall, 8 Company 30 Infantry Regiment.  Farmer’s son from Attenham.

Was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class.

Shot in the stomach and badly wounded during an assault on Verdun, 20 March 1918.  He died at field hospital 25, 21 March.  He was 21.

The back of the card has Jesus with a soldier.  The double page, single sided card measures about 5.5 x 4 inches. 

Includes a slip from the German Grave Office listing him as buried in Mangiennes, France.

Worn condition with tiny tear to the outside mid border left and right.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Volunteer Albert Kohler, 4 Company 16 Infantry Regiment.   

Killed during an assault by Arras, 16 June 1915. He was 21.

Real student uniform photo glued to card.

The back of the card has Jesus with a soldier.  The single page, single sided card measures about 2.5 x 4.5 inches. 

Includes a slip from the German Graves Office listing him as killed by Roclincourt and buried in St. Laurent Blangy, France.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Soldat Georg Edtmüller, 2 Company 24 Bavarian Infantry Regiment.  Farmer’s son from Aschau.

Was awarded the Bavarian Service Cross and the Iron Cross 2nd Class.

After 30 months true service,  he died from difficult mortar wounds received at Maria-Py (champagne), 7 August 1917.  He was 25.  He was buried in   the soldiers cemetery at Machault.

The back of the card has a full color image of Jesus with a soldier.  The double page, single sided card measures about 5.75 x 4 inches. 

Includes slip from the German Graves Office that he was killed in Machault and buried in Noyers Pont Maugis, France. 

Carried condition.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Volunteer August Aschenbrenner, 2 Company 13 Reserve Infantry Regiment.  Postman’s son from Runding.

Killed on the field of honor, 21 June 1915.  He was 18.

The back of the card has Jesus with a soldier.  The single page, single sided card measures about 2.25 x 4.25 inches. 

Good condition.

Killed in On Romanian soil, 20 August 1917.  He was 22. 

The back of the card has a rendering of baby Jesus.  The double page, single sided card measures about 2.5 x 4.75 inches.  In excellent condition.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Unteroffizier, Joseph Maller, 20 Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment.

Was awarded the iron Cross 2nd Class and the Bavarian Service Cross

Killedin combat by Soissons, 4 June 1918.  He was 31.

Includes a slip from the German Graves Office listing him as buried in Mons en Laonnois, France.

Card is in good condition.

WW1 Austrian Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Soldat Josef Brunner,  91 Infantry Regiment.  From Ratschlag.

First fought on the northern battlefields and then the southern battlefields, where he was badly wounded 7 August 1915 by a mortar.  He died on the transport and was buried in Laibach.  

Nice uniform photo.

The back of the card has a crucifix  The double page, single sided card measures about 4.5 x 6 inches.

In very good condition.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Campaign Soldier Josef Anetsberger, 6 Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment.  Cabinet maker’s son from Bayerbach.

Served 14 months at the front and was wounded in a gas attack.  He died at the military hospital in St. Quentin from gas poisoning, 1 June 1916.  He was 32.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild)  for Army Soldat Johann Zeislmeier, 13 Reserve Infantry Regiment.  Professional soldier’s son from Ettersdorf.

Died while crossing the Donau. 8 October 1915.  He was 25.
