WW1 Death Cards 4

 

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Leutnant Christian Müller,  Infantry Regiment 246.

Was awarded the Iron Cross.

Badly wounded 14 September 1916  by Bouchavesnes on the Somme, and died a day later at the field hospital at Hardecourt.  He was 25. His body was transported home and he was buried 30 November 1916, Burladingen.

Double page single sided card measures about 4 x 5.5 inches. Back hasan angel with a soldier.

Good condition.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Unteroffizier Lorenz Gruber, Brigade Ersatz Batl. 2.

Killed 9 September 1914. He was 27.

Single page single sided card measures about 2.5 x 4.25 inches. Back has Jesus.

Includes a German Graves Office slip listing him as killed by Saales and buried in a mass grave in La Broque, France.

Good condition.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Ersatz Reservist Ludwig Riedhammer, 4 Company 3 Infantry Regiment.  From Leithen.

Killed during an assault by Arras, 17 February 1915.  He was 31.

Single page single sided card measures about 2.5 x 4.25 inches. Back has Jesus on the battlefield.

German Graves Office lists he was buried in a mass grave in St. Laurent Blangy, France.

Card has been pinned up and has 2 tiny pin holes to the edge.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Unteroffizier Johann Weiss,  12 Company 2 Reserve Infantry Regiment.  Woodworker.

Was awarded the Iron Cross and the Military Service Cross 3rd Class with Swords.

After 10 months true service, he was killed  in Zielberg, 16 June 1915. He was 29.

Single page single sided card measures about 2.5 x 4.25 inches. Back has a knight.

Good condition.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Soldat Johann Sporrer, 13 Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment.

On 16 July 1915, he was badly wounded to the right upper arm.  He died of blood poisoning 10 August in the Hospital Tivoli by Hildesheim.   He was 26.

Double page single sided card measures about 4.5 x 5.5 inches. Back has Jesus .

He is listed as being buried in Hildeshaim, Germany

WW1 German Death Card Sterbebild Unteroffizier Iron Cross Zielberg 1915

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Soldat Josef Berl, Bavarian Pionier Company.

Awarded the Iron Cross.

After 9 months service in France, he was killed 12 June 1917.  He was 20. 

Single page single sided card measures about 2.5 x 4.25 inches. Back has Mary with baby Jesus.

The German Graves Registration lists him as being buried in Troyon, France.

Good condition.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Musketier Ludwig Winterstetter, 9 Company Prussian Infantry Regiment 254. 

Killed during an assault by Kurhang ( Gouvernement Kowno), 2 September 1915. He was 22.

Photo has a 25 on his spike helmet cover.

Single page single sided card measures about 2.5 x 4.25 inches. Back has full color Mary.

Good condition.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Reservist Michael Zechmeister, 6Batterie Reserve Foot Artillerie Regiment.

Killed by Gavrelle, 25 September 1915.  He was 29. 

He wears musician swallow nest shoulder devices in the photo.

Double page single sided card measures about 5.5 x 4 inches. Back has Jesus with a soldier.

German Graves Office lists he was killed by Bailleul and buried in in St. Laurent Blangy, France

Card has separated at the center fold.
