WW2 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Wachtmeister and Platoon Leader Karl Hofstetter, 2 Batterie Light Observers Abteilung 27.

Was awarded the Iron Cross and Russian Front Medal. Served in various campaigns.

Killed 5 February 1944, Apostolowo, Russia.  He was 27.

The back of the card has a crucifix.  The single page single sided card measures about 2.5 x 4 inches.  

Bundesarchiv lists he was killed by a Panzer Büchse to the heart.

Good condition.

WW2 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Gefreiter Friedrich Sehn, Panzer Grenadier Regiment. 

Killed 21 April 1945, by Neukrug, Frische Nehrung (Poland).  He was 35.

Back of card has photo of a cemetery cross.  Single sided single page card measures about  2.5 x 4.25 inches.

Includes German Graves Office slip identifying him as killed by Neukrug, Frische Nehrung.

During WW2, the Vistula Spit became the last holdout of the remaining German soldiers in East Prussia, although the Soviets simply bypassed the spit after the East Prussian Offensive was decisively concluded, training their sights on the more important goal of capturing Berlin. The last German soldiers only laid down their arms after the German surrender was signed.

In very good condition.

WW2 German Death card Sterbebild Neukrug Frische Nehrung April 1945 Vistula Spit

WW2 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Luftwaffe Obergefreiter Josef Tamblé, Flak Batterie.

Awarded the Anti Aircraft (Flak) Combat Badge.

Died of a heart attack shortly after his 39th birthday, 23 December 1943.  He was 34.

Nice light color (white?  light tan?) uniform photo and wearing the Flak Combat Badge.

Double page single sided card measures about 6 x 5 inches.

Includes a German Graves Office slip listing him as dieing in Gelsenkirchen and buried in Wehrden, Germany.

Bundesarchiv lists him as serving with 3 Batterie Flakscheinwerfer Abtl. 248.

In very good condition.

WW2 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Unteroffizier Willi Scheichl, 3 Company Grenadier Regiment 19. 

Was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class and is wearing it in the great uniform photo!  He also wears an Assault Badge and you can just see the top of a Wound Badge.

Killed 11 September 1943, Nowgorod. He was 22.

Single page single sided card measures about 2.5 x 4 inches.

Bundesarchiv lists him as buried in Aropowitsiki.

Very good condition.

WW2 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Luftwaffe Obergefreiter Willy Majoli, Flak Unit. 1 Batterie light motorized Flak Batl. 89.

Was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class, Krim Shield, Wound Badge.

Killed in the difficult fighting at Sewastopol, 24 April 1944. He was 29.

Single page double sided card measures about 2.5 x 4.25 inches. 

Includes a German Graves Office slip listing his as killed by Nikojajewka on the way to Hospital Sewastopol.

Bundesarchiv lists him as having been wounded  by grenade shrapnel to the chest and neck..

Tiny tear to the edge, but ok condition.

Was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class, Flak Badge and Russian Front Medal.

Killed in Russia, 8 April 1944.  He was 30.

The back of the card has an Iron Cross.  The double page single sided card measures about 5.5 x 5 inches.  

German Graves Office Lists him as killed and buried Kula by Armjansk, Krim, Ukraine.

WW2 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Gefreiter Heinrich Johann,  3 Grenadier Regiment (motorized) 200.

Was awarded the Krim Shield, Romanian Cross, and Wound Badge.

After surviving fighting in Afrika and the East, he was killed in Italy, 13 December 1943.  He was 21.

Single page double sided card measures about 2.5 x 4.25 inches. 

Includes a German Graves Office slip listing his as buried in Cassino, Italy.

Bundesarchiv lists him as having been killed by artillery shrapnel to the head.
