WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Ersatz Reservist Peter Liegl, 2 Company 20 Reserve Infantry Regiment.   Farmer’s son from Rannersdorf.

Shot in the head and killed, 24 February 1916.  He was 22.

The back of the card has a rendering of Jesus with soldiers.  The single page, single sided card measures about 2.5 x 4 inches.

German Graves Office lists him as buried in Beaucamps Ligny, France.

Very good condition.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Infantrymann Franz Xaver Bartl, 10 Company 23 Reserve Infantry Regiment.  From  Stachsried.

Killed by an artillery round at Andechy, 19 September 1916.  He was 36. He was buried at the soldiers‘ cemetery at Royn. 

The back of the card has an angel with a soldier.  The single page, single sided card measures about 2.25 x 4.5 inches.

Includes Graves Registration Office slip listing him as buried in Roye St Gilles, France.

Good condition.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Gefreiter Joseph Nitzl, 10 Company 8 Infantry Regiment. Farmer’s son from Schönau.

Was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class.

Killed 3 September 1916, France.  He was 24. IR 8 was engaged at Verdun on this date.

Nice uniform photo with the Iron Cross drawn on.

Back of card has an angel with a soldier. 

Double page single sided card measures about 4.5 x 5.75 inches.

Includes a German Graves Office slip listing him as buried in Azannes II, France.

Very good condition.

German Death Card (Sterbebild) for WW1 Army Generalmajor Hugo Wilhelm Freiherrn von Lederer.

Born in Kronstadt 9 September 1857 and died in Linz am Donau, 6 July 1939.

Real photo glued to card.

The back of the card has Mary and baby Jesus.  The double page, single sided card measures about 6 x 5.5 inches.

Promoted to Generalmajor 1 August 1917 and retired 1 January 1919.

Very good condition.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Generalmajor Jakob Pfluegl, Stellvertrater Generalkommando III Armee Korps.

Komtur and Knight of high Orders.

Had a brain stroke and died in Nuernberg, 23 January 1917.  He was 61.  He was buried January 29 in Viechlach

The back of the card has a rendering of an angels with a cross.  The single sided card measures about 5.25 x 2.25 inches. 

A rust stain at the bottom.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Pionier Karl Sautner, 285 Pionier Company. From Stachesried.

Shot in the head in Champagne, 18 August 1916.  He was 29.

The back of the card has a color rendering of an angel with a soldier.  The single page, single sided card measures about 2.5 x 4.5 inches. 

Includes a German Graves office slip listing him as buried in Romagne sur Cotes, France.

WW1 German Death Card (Sterbebild) for Army Reservist Lorenz Kohwagner, 10 Company 12 Reserve Infantry Regiment.  From  Ramsau.

Killed by a mortar, 10 May 1915.  He was 34. He was buried at the  cemetery at Vimy. 

Real photo glued to card.

The back of the card has full color Jesus with a soldier.  The single page, single sided card measures about 2.25 x 4.5 inches.

Includes Graves Registration Office slip listing him as killed at Vimy and buried in a mass grave in St. Laurent Blangy, France.

Killed in combat by Juneville, 20 April 1917.  He was 30. He was buried at the  cemetery there.
